Construction Productivity Analysis for Asphalt Concrete Pavement Rehabilitation in Urban Corridors
نویسنده
چکیده
This paper presents the results of a constructability and productivity analysis for the Caltrans Long Life Asphalt Concrete Pavement Rehabilitation Strategies (LLACPRS). With the assistance of California asphalt concrete paving contractors, the analysis explored the effects on construction productivity of rehabilitation materials, design strategy (crack seat and overlay, full-depth replacement), layer profiles, AC cooling time, resource constraints, and alternative lane closure tactics. Deterministic and stochastic analysis programs were developed. A sensitivity study was performed that examined construction production within a 55-hour weekend closure. Weekend closures were also compared to continuous closures. Demolition and AC delivery truck flows were the major constraints limiting the AC rehabilitation production capability. This study concludes that efficient lane closure tactics designed to work with the pavement profile can minimize non-working time to increase the construction production efficiency. The results of this study will help road agencies evaluate rehabilitation strategies and tactics with the goal of balancing the maximization of production capability and minimization of traffic delay during urban rehabilitation.

Modeling of Resilient Modulus of Asphalt Concrete Containing Reclaimed Asphalt Pavement using Feed-Forward and Generalized Regression Neural Networks
Reclaimed asphalt pavement (RAP) is one of the waste materials that highway agencies promote to use in new construction or rehabilitation of highways pavement. Since the use of RAP can affect the resilient modulus and other structural properties of flexible pavement layers, this paper aims to employ two different artificial neural network (ANN) models for modeling and evaluating the effects of ...

In the Mechanistic–Empirical Pavement Design Guide (MEPDG), dynamic modulus of asphalt mixes is used as one of the input parameters in pavement analysis and design. For in-service pavements, MEPDG method uses a combination of some field and laboratory tests for structural evaluation of asphalt layers in rehabilitation projects. In this study, ten new and rehabilitated in-service asphalt pavemen...
متن کاملStudy on Performance of Epoxy Asphalt Concrete Applied in the Deck Pavement of Pingsheng Steel Bridge
As a fair deck pavement material of its kind used in steel bridge, the epoxy asphalt concrete is considered much more superior to ordinary asphalt concrete in terms of road performance, while still greatly subject to the level of design and construction. Starting from a practical case of the epoxy asphalt concrete that has been applied in the deck pavement of Pingsheng Steel Bridge, this paper ...
